“Babytė, kurią vadino bandite” (“The Granny They Called a Bandit”): Eimutis Kvoščiauskas’s solo performance in London on 7 November
On 7 November, actor Eimutis Kvoščiauskas will present a solo performance based on true events at The Tabernacle in London, about his grandmother and his family’s fate as marked by the post-war years. It will be the first time the performance is shown in London.

At the heart of the performance is the actor’s grandmother, Ona Liutvinaitė-Kvoščiauskienė, whose life was changed by the post-war partisan resistance. Alongside her story, it tells of her partisan brothers and of her son, who had to grow up without his mother. On stage, E. Kvoščiauskas does not play a fictional character: he speaks as a grandson trying to understand his family’s past.
The story draws on family memories and archives. It is supplemented by letters, archival material, video projections and music composed specially for the performance. According to the organisers, post-war Lithuania is shown here not through dates and facts, but through the fate of one family.
The performance premiered in June in Karalgiris forest. Before travelling to London, it will also be shown on 23 October at the Romuva cinema centre in Kaunas.
The London event is under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the UK. It is organised by LaNe Pro Events, with support from Kauno diena, Global Info Ltd, Instant Mortgage Solutions, the Lithuanian bookshop Knygnešys and Bernelių užeiga.
