About the festival

The festival will be held at two London cinemas: Regent Street Cinema and The Garden Cinema. On The Garden Cinema’s website it is presented as “the UK’s only celebration of cinema from the three Baltic countries”.

The festival is supported by the embassies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. According to the organisers, its supporters also include the Estonian Film Institute, the National Film Centre of Latvia, the Lithuanian Film Centre and the Lithuanian Culture Institute.

“Hunger Strike Breakfast”: 15 November

Karolis Kaupinis’s “Hunger Strike Breakfast” is a 2025 co-production of Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Latvia. It runs for 85 minutes. It is set in January 1991: the Soviet army seizes the Vilnius TV Tower, and staff of Lithuanian Television declare a hunger strike.

According to the festival, the lead roles are played by Ineta Stasiulytė, Paulius Pinigis, Arvydas Dapšys and others. The festival says the film was selected for the official programme of the 2025 Warsaw Film Festival and for the Baltic Competition of the 2025 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

The UK premiere will take place on Sunday 15 November at 17:00 at The Garden Cinema. On the morning of 7 November, the cinema’s page for the film stated “This screening is currently SOLD OUT”, but a waiting list was available. Details of an audience Q&A will be announced later.

“How to Divorce During the War”: 21 November

We wrote about Andrius Blaževičius’s film “How to Divorce During the War” on 13 October. Its UK premiere will take place on Saturday 21 November at 19:00 at Regent Street Cinema. The cinema states that the screening will be followed by “a Q&A session with filmmakers and talent”. The film runs for 108 minutes.

At the 2026 Sundance Film Festival the film won the Directing Award in the World Cinema Dramatic category. It is Lithuania’s official entry for the 99th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

Other films from the Baltic countries

The festival will open on 13 November at 19:00 at Regent Street Cinema with the Estonian film “Morten” (UK premiere). The Latvian film “Ulya” (directed by Viesturs Kairiss) will be shown on 15 November at The Garden Cinema and on 21 November at 16:00 at Regent Street Cinema. The programme also includes the Estonian film “Our Erika” and the Latvian film “Kingpins”.
